This is not Coachella. No one cares if you are dressed like a bohemian lily or whether >Eugenia Kim designed your hat. To be fair, nobody really cares if you’re dressed at all. This festival is not for the bells and whistles and frills. It goes back to the roots of why we go to music festivals in the first place: to hear music.

The festival is located on a 700-acre farm in Manchester TN, about 96 km (60 mi) southeast of Nashville and 64 km (40 mi) northwest of Chattanooga.
Be prepared for traffic and fill up your gas tank before you get into the festival grounds, as there are no gas stations on site.
If you aren’t tantalized by the high level of diverse talent the festival offers, there are other ways to keep entertained, with a ferris wheel, a cinema tent, comedy acts, art galleries, salons, and a silent disco at your disposal. We call this a “renaissance festival” – very well-rounded.
The key to optimizing your experience at Bonnaroo is battling and defeating the elements, mainly heat and rain. Weather for the festival is often unpredictable, so it’s best to be packed perfectly and prepare to embrace it.
The heat can be sweltering, so stay hydrated and spend plenty of time at the giant mushroom shower. In the evenings, the temperatures drop and humidity from the day will have made the ground damp. When it rains we often choose to embrace the mire, pretending we are in a humongous, skin-cleansing mud bath.
Having said that, you will still want to keep a bag of wet wipes nice and handy.
Bonnaroo preparation starts with two basic human needs: water and beer. When we arrived in Manchester, we parked our car and pitched a tent, with the help of our neighbors. We woke early each morning, already sweating through our clothes, as the temperatures hovered around 90°F (32°C).
Our solution was to bounce out of our tent, run to our car, and blast the AC for a few hours to continue nap time.
9:00 a.m. was shower time, and when I say shower time, I mean dumping a gallon of water over our heads as we stand in the dry dirt. After drying in the sun, we clothed and hiked to the entrance gates, navigating the bag check and making a beeline for the diverse range of food trucks for a hangover-curing breakfast.
