Icebergs is considered the top-shelf Bondi restaurant, and a little private beach club at times. This makes for an epic boozy lunch or dinner with the best views around.
Fronted by Chiswick and Aria’s Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan, is what’s became of North Bondi Italian Food, which closed in 2012 after previous owners Maurice Terzini and Robert Marchetti parted ways. Order the raw kingfish with ponzu, rounds of raw green chili, and the calamari. Also, the wine list is brilliant – short, but really thoughtfully put together. There are very few places you can schlep into and order a Sancerre straight from the beach, sandy feet and all. It’s certainly the only place in town we can think of where you can drink natural wine in your swimmers.
Rice pot was one of my staples when I lived in Bondi. It is a small Thai restaurant with a red ceiling, plating large portions of fried rice and massaman curry. It is delicious and reasonably priced. Also great for take out!
