Locanda Cicolina

Located in a valley full of olive trees just outside of Montepulciano, this vineyard provides a fantastic venue for a special dinner or an afternoon of wine tasting. The restaurant sits on a gently sloping hill with a view of the green vineyards and breathtaking surrounding countryside. Try the hand-cut salami, local cheese, or one of the homemade pasta dishes like pici, pappardelle, or gnocchi (all dishes that, conveniently, pair perfectly with a glass of wine). Reservations are recommended because this restaurant is a local favorite.

Osteria Acquacheta

Located in Montepulciano’s historic center – a popular destination for tourists – is Osteria Acquacheta. The menu changes weekly, but the special dish ‘bistecca alla fiorentina’, or char-grilled T-bone steak, is always served.  The flavorful meat is perfectly seared and served in huge portions. Just look at this picture if you need convincing. The meals are made as fresh as can be with seasonal and local ingredients. The restaurant owners suggest guests bring their own bottle of Montepulciano wine to enjoy with their steak.

Osteria del Conte

Located on one of Montepulciano’s main streets, Osteria del Conte is a down-home cooking mother-and-son-run restaurant offers excellent examples of Sienese cuisine. The menu changes seasonally to accommodate the freshest local ingredients, including truffles and mushrooms from Montepulciano and homemade pecorino cheese. Try any of the dishes with the popular Nobile di Montepulciano wine. The restaurant’s décor is warm and cozy while still elegant, making it a perfect setting for a romantic dinner.
